There is an urban myth in Christian circles. I have heard it spoken by many people from many different denominations over the years. I used to believe it myself, because it was such a common thing that was mentioned. I thought that once I became a Christian that I was guaranteed a spot in heaven (Regardless). As a result, there were still many areas in my life that never changed, because there was no need to. Also I was wishy washy with my faith and went through cycles of being on Fire for God one minute and then returning back to lukewarm, because it didn’t matter what I did now. I was set…… I was wrong!!!
The Narrow Door
Your Choices Matter
24 “Strive (Work Towards) to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
25 When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’
26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’
27 But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’
Belief (Operating out of Trust) For Jesus is the Door
7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Treat Everyone How You Would Like to Be Treated
Known as the Golden Rule
12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
Some People Who Had Been Active in any Ministry Will Not Make It
Matthew 7 21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Returning Back to Sinful Lifestyle
2 Peter 2:20-22
For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”
If We Continue To Sin Deliberately Are No Longer Covered By Grace
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die.
Examine Yourselves Honestly And Test Your Faith
2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
We Will All Be One Day Held Accountable
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes (trusts, relies, depends, complies) Him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
