The Beatitudes are beautiful, it is greatly read and under researched. It is used verse by verse a lot to assist people going through hard times in there lives. However in its wider context by reading more of the scripture there is more to it. It is the showing of qualities and characteristics that God wants to see in all of His people. As you read through the Beatitudes you will see that there are some areas of your life that you have strength in and other areas that need work. You may be strong in seeking the righteousness of God and yet lack compassion etc. Each of these qualities are just as important as the other.

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Someone who is so distressed they are begging for emotional help. The broken people. The ones who have hit rock bottom. When pride is absent God can do amazing restorative work if you let Him. With God By Your Side You will learn how to avoid the rocks in future and spend more time in your canoe than in the water.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Feeling regret or sadness because of the loss of someone or something. During these times, many people seek God for the pain to go away or for answers. During these times God draws close to you, bringing you comfort during this painful season. But through God’s comfort, comes great empathy for the suffering of others. You will be able to show others how to surf the waves of despair rather than drown in them.
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Quiet, Gentle people who are easily imposed on. These people know the meaning of humility. They regard all others as important and they have a true servants heart. Everything they do is for the Lord’s service, not the service of themselves. True servants of God make a real difference to their communities, because their servant’s heart is like a huge lighthouse shining a bright light into the community of darkness. You wont mind being a bowler or a batter because you know you belong to a team and you will always play your best shot regardless of your circumstance.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Desiring more than anything else to be in the right standing with God, these people will happily learn and be corrected by God’s Word, the Holy Spirit and God’s people in leadership. They long to deepen their relationship with God. These people will have a deeper revelation because of their dedication to learning and being corrected. They have a clear concept of eternal matters. With good instruction and practice you will be able to stay on that skateboard and do some really cool feats as well.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Compassionate and forgiving people. These people show genuine concern for the well being of others. They feel real pity and sorrow towards human kind. These people know how to love unconditionally without any blockages. These people are free to love according to the Word of God. If one falls out of the boat, even if it is not your boat, you will reach out and give a helping hand.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Morally uncontaminated, pure and innocent, these people have chosen to live a life that is free from the darkness of the World. They live in the world but they are not of the world. These people are free from marks and stains. They are people of faith, who trust and do the word of god to obtain innocence in His sight. These people will seek God for a personal relationship with Him. As a result, they will have a deeper understanding of who God really is. You will be able to cover rough terrain without falling off your bike.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Promoting peace in any situation, these people will do all that they can including humbling themselves to obtain a harmonious outcome. It is not that they fear conflict, but that they understand that the need for them to be right is superseded by the need to honor Jesus’ way. You will be able to encourage others to find a tranquil solution to troubles as they arise. Never running too fast or slow, but at an even pace.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Subject to hostility and ill-treatment because of their faith, these people have decided that their faith is more important than anything else. They will never renounce but in fact will promote God under pressure. These people have a strength and boldness about them that is amazing and encouraging to see. You will take the hits where necessary to bring glory to the Kingdom of God. You will not lose heart or give up for your faith is strong.
